Chapter Thirty-Six
The snow was falling in earnest now. Huge, fluffy flakes, and since the temperature was well below freezing, it was staying on the ground. Anastasia looked up at the sky and held out her hand to feel them falling. Surely this was enough to change her mind about the festival??
Not so fast. In a conversation with the family's butler, Aldo, Anastasia reiterated her position. "There's no way in hell the festival is going to be canceled. It positively has to happen, if for no other reason than to boost the mood of the township."
Despite the raging snowstorm, Anastasia completed her latest renovation project, a book nook for one of her festival performers. "I'm impressed with your work, Miss -"
"Just call me Anastasia."
"Your check is in the mail."
"Oh, no, no need for payment. Just show up at the festival, that's good enough for me."
Meanwhile, back at the palace, Alexandra received a phone call. "Hello? Yes, this is Alexandra. Where are those supplies I ordered for the shelters?"
"What? You mean only some of the supplies came in? Where's the rest of the stuff? Snow is falling already here, and they've already shut down the main highway in here, Subalpine Boulevard. Only essential personnel can get in and out of here."
Angrily hanging up the phone, Alexandra said nothing to Patrick except, "Grab your coat, let's go."
